Polina Kazakevych Highlights Hydrogen Economy Prospects at Budapest Hydrogen Summit

The President of the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council Polina Kazakevych participated in the 3rd Budapest Hydrogen Summit yesterday. Engaging in a fireside chat about the potential of hydrogen development in the region and fostering cooperation, she addressed several key topics that underscored Ukraine's commitment to advancing the hydrogen economy and fostering international collaboration.

With an eye toward innovation and collaboration, Ms Kazakevych painted a picture of Ukraine as a key player in the global hydrogen market.

Amidst the discussions on hydrogen development, the President also addressed the pressing issue of Ukraine's energy landscape. The ongoing war with russia has inflicted severe damage on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Continuous attacks on thermal and hydropower stations, alongside main networks, have resulted in widespread blackouts across the nation. Key facilities such as the Kakhovka and Dnieper stations have suffered significant destruction due to strikes, exacerbating the energy crisis in Ukraine.

A notable highlight of the discussion was the new initiative - 3Seas Hydrogen Council. The initiative sets ambitious goals for enhancing regional energy security and promoting sustainable development.

Addressing cooperation possibilities, participants delineated a multi-faceted approach, identifying key areas for collaboration, such as: green hydrogen production, establishing a robust network of infrastructure, encouraging joint ventures and investments in hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing or strengthening cooperation in the production of hydrogen storage solutions.

During the Summit, a significant moment transpired as the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council reaffirmed its partnership with the Hungarian Hydrogen Technology Association. Both entities re-signed a Memorandum of Understanding, reaffirming their commitment to joint initiatives and knowledge-sharing endeavors aimed at driving hydrogen innovation.

The President's participation in the Budapest Hydrogen Summit not only highlighted Ukraine's ambition in the hydrogen sector but also underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration in realizing a sustainable energy future.
