Ukrainian Hydrogen Council and Ukrainian Water Association establish partnership for sustainable energy

The Ukrainian Hydrogen Council and the Ukrainian Water Association have signed a Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation. The signing ceremony, which took place on 5 April, marks a key moment on Ukraine's path to implementing green energy and addressing water management issues.

The production of green hydrogen is largely dependent on access to clean water resources for electrolysis, a key process for producing hydrogen from renewable sources such as wind or solar energy. The partnership between the associations highlights the important role of water resources in advancing hydrogen energy initiatives and aims to ensure environmental sustainability and access to essential resources for citizens across the country.

Through strategic partnership, both associations intend to create favourable ecosystems for the development of hydrogen energy. This includes promoting research into innovative methods of hydrogen production, advocating for policies that prioritise the sustainable use of water in energy production, and collaborating with industry stakeholders, academia and government agencies.

In a joint statement, representatives of both associations expressed their optimism about the potential impact of this partnership. They emphasised the importance of harnessing the synergies between hydrogen energy and water management to drive positive change and accelerate progress towards shared goals of sustainable development and resilience.

In addition, the associations will explore opportunities to develop cooperation with international organisations, such as the U.S. Water Partnership. Plans are underway to collaborate on a concept note. This initiative underscores the broader relevance and potential impact of their joint efforts in advancing sustainable energy and water management practices not only within Ukraine but also on a global scale.
