The Ministry of Energy has published the draft Hydrogen Strategy of Ukraine
An important step towards creating a hydrogen economy in Ukraine: The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has published a draft order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On Approval of the Hydrogen Strategy of Ukraine until 2050 and Approval of the Operational Action Plan for its Implementation".
The draft proposes ambitious strategic steps aimed at introducing hydrogen energy into all sectors of the economy. In particular, it envisages the development of industrial hydrogen production, storage and transportation, as well as the use of hydrogen to provide clean energy in construction, heating and cooling.
Based on the scientific and technical potential of Ukraine and the best international practices, clear strategic goals and ways to achieve them have been developed, and the structure of the main stages of hydrogen energy development in the country has been determined.
This project creates significant opportunities for attracting foreign investment in hydrogen regional clusters and upgrading the relevant infrastructure. Hydrogen, in particular, has the potential to replace natural gas imports, strengthen Ukraine's energy independence, and contribute to decarbonisation in line with international environmental safety standards.
An important step in this direction will be the introduction of national hydrogen standards and guarantees of origin, which will help ensure that the Ukrainian hydrogen industry meets EU standards and increase its competitiveness in the global market.
The implementation of the Hydrogen Strategy of Ukraine may become a turning point in the country's energy development, opening new prospects for economic growth and promoting sustainable development in accordance with modern environmental requirements.
The draft document is available in Ukrainian on the website of the Ministry of Energy.
