Inauguration of Innovative Energy and Transportation Laboratory at National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”

On November 7th, a solemn opening ceremony of the "Innovative Technologies in Energy and Transportation" laboratory took place at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (KPI). This significant step was made possible through the close collaboration between the Energy Association "Ukrainian Hydrogen Council" and KPI named after Igor Sikorsky.

 

In September of this year, the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council transferred an automated mechatronic transportation complex - a hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai car to KPI named after Igor Sikorsky. From now on students from the Institute of Energy Conservation and Energy Management at KPI will conduct practical and laboratory research. They will study the structure of the hydrogen transport vehicle, analyze its principles of operation, and work to improve these systems. The main goal of this project is to establish a scientific research laboratory and a demonstration stand based on hydrogen technologies, contributing to the development of energy and transportation in Ukraine.

In parallel with the opening of the laboratory, a certified program titled "Engineering and Automation of Hydrogen Energy Systems and Technologies" is being developed in collaboration with KPI named after Igor Sikorsky. This program will help students receive specialized education in this field. The accreditation process for the master's program in "Engineering of Intelligent Electrical and Mechatronic Systems" is currently underway. Upon successful accreditation, this program will provide students with education that aligns with international standards and the needs of the modern job market.

This initiative represents a significant step in preparing qualified professionals in the field of hydrogen energy and transportation, which will contribute to sustainable economic growth and the preservation of natural resources. Research in this area is of great importance, as hydrogen energy is a key factor in reducing carbon emissions, achieving environmental goals, and ensuring Ukraine's energy security.

The opening of the laboratory and educational programs dedicated to the study of hydrogen technologies promotes the development of the hydrogen economy, helps reduce dependence on traditional fuels, and opens up new opportunities for innovation and the development of modern energy solutions in Ukraine.
