At the "Rebuilding Ukraine" conference: the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council emphasizes the development of "green" hydrogen for Europe

At the "Reconstruction of Ukraine" online conference on October 24, 2023, the Vice President of the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council, Oleksandr Diachenko, participated in the second panel dedicated to "Energy and Environment." This event was organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine and brought together key players in the field of renewable energy and ecology.

During the conference,  Oleksandr Diachenko emphasized the importance of developing hydrogen energy as one of the key directions for Ukraine and Europe as a whole. He noted that "green" hydrogen is not only the energy of the future but also of the present. The Ukrainian Hydrogen Council is actively working with foreign partners to implement green energy solutions in Ukraine and contribute to the country's "Green Deal" agenda. It's worth mentioning that Ukraine and the European Commission signed a memorandum of strategic partnership in the field of renewable gases in February 2023, opening new opportunities for Ukraine in creating and exporting "green" hydrogen to the EU.

Together with other countries, Ukraine is developing "Hydrogen Valleys" projects, which include potential financial support for research on "green" hydrogen production in the Zakarpattia and Odessa regions. Hydrogen transportation is becoming a promising direction for utilizing Ukraine's gas transportation infrastructure, attracting significant investments. Financial support from the European Union will help Ukraine transition to renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Furthermore, Ukraine is actively working to align with the European Commission's Eurointegration policy, which involves increasing the use of renewable energy sources and reducing coal consumption. The REPowerUA plan aims to increase the production of energy from renewable sources in Ukraine while decreasing reliance on coal and other non-sustainable energy sources.

Oleksandr Diachenko concluded his speech with the hope that the conference would be a step towards improving the situation in Ukraine's hydrogen sector and provide valuable information for international partners. This initiative promotes the development of renewable energy in Ukraine and contributes to achieving goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning towards sustainable development. The partnership between Ukraine and Europe in the hydrogen sector promises new opportunities for both parties and is an important step towards creating a sustainable, competitive economy and rapid reconstruction of Ukraine.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine for their dedicated work and support in advancing green hydrogen in Ukraine!
