Together with 18 industry partners, DNV is launching a new Joint Industry Project (JIP) to enhance the standardization for reliable, safe and cost-efficient hydrogen production systems that use renewable energy-powered electrolysis to produce green hydrogen.
The JIP will be kicked off on 16 February and is open for more partners to join until mid-April 2022.

Korean Air signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), Airbus, and Air Liquide to cooperate on supplying aviation hydrogen fuel and developing relevant infrastructure.
The MOU is aligned with Airbus’ aim to develop the world’s first zero-emission hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft by 2035, and confirms Korean Air as an active participant in welcoming this alternative energy paradigm shift.

Phillips 66 and H2 Energy Europe announced their commitment to develop up to 250 retail hydrogen refueling stations across Germany, Austria and Denmark by 2026 through a 50-50 joint venture between their subsidiaries.

KEME Energy, a Portuguese company that implements renewable energy self-consumption projects, will invest €5.2 million in installing a green hydrogen production plant in Sines (Setúbal).
The future pilot unit will have a capacity of 2.52 MW, with an estimated production of 160 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. The project will be implemented in two phases.

France has announced plans to spend €5bn ($5.7bn) in “direct aid” for the deployment of decarbonisation solutions for heavy industry — €4bn of which will be spent on “innovative technologies” such as hydrogen and carbon, capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS). The funding package will be part of President Emmanuel Macron’s €30bn ($35bn) France 2030 green investment plan for 2022-27.

Hungary launches first hydrogen bus route in Budapest. The line will go from Budapest to the nearby suburb of Vecsés and will run for around three weeks. Authorities will use the opportunity to gather information on the everyday usage of the hydrogen bus.

The state of Ceará, in north-eastern Brazil, is designing a hub with the capacity to produce at least 500,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. The equivalent of around 2.5m tonnes of green ammonia would be exported to Europe from the Port of Pecém to its trading partner, the Port of Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
