The US based Great Plains Institute released their Atlas of Carbon and Hydrogen Hubs for United States Decarbonization. This mapping study identifies areas of the United States that offer the capacity to help accelerate emissions reductions and carbon removal through focused coordination, deployment, and policy. The development of regional hydrogen hubs is a key part of the US Hydrogen Shot strategy which also includes the target for the cost of clean hydrogen to be $1 per 1kg within 1 decade.

Polish refiner PKN Orlen plans to invest 7.4 billion zloty ($1.87 billion) on low- and zero-carbon hydrogen development projects by the end of the decade.
The company confirmed it would pursue hydrogen development projects based on RES and municipal waste conversion technology, with PKN Orlen targeting roughly 540-megawatts of new hydrogen production capacity by 2030, with a longer term goal to achieve 1-gigawatt of capacity.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government has signed a MoU with the region of Flanders, in Northern Belgium, to support cooperation on green hydrogen development. It is a unique agreement in that it is the first green hydrogen MOU to be signed by Flanders, while also being the first state-to-state agreement on green hydrogen signed by Tasmania.
Flanders is pursuing an ambitious decarbonisation agenda to achieve its climate change goals - a move that will accelerate global demand for green hydrogen and is in line with Tasmania’s target to be a significant green hydrogen exporter from 2030.

Austrian Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner handed over five hydrogen-powered cars to representatives of the army. According to a statement by the ministry, this is the next step in the fight against climate change. The cars to be used in everyday administrative tasks, to test their compatibility with military service.

Norway could gain a new green ammonia and hydrogen production facility with Hy2gen set to begin a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for the large-scale project. Construction of the facility could begin by 2023, with the facility fully operational at the beginning of 2027.

Finland is set to gain its first industrial-scale green hydrogen production plant with P2X Solutions investing €70m ($80m) to construct the facility in Harjavalta. Construction work on the 20MW green hydrogen production plant in Harjavalta Industrial Park will begin in autumn 2022. The plant is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2024.
