Oleksandr Riepkin took part in the expert discussion "The Ukrainian Hydrogen Opportunity? How to promote a hydrogen cooperation with the EU”
EU assign Ukraine an important role in achieving the objectives of the European Green Deal. Ukraine is the only European country which is mentioned among the priority partners in the EU Hydrogen Strategy, acknowledging its potential for hydrogen production and export.
Yesterday, January 31, an expert discussion was held on the topic "The Ukrainian Hydrogen Opportunity? How to promote a hydrogen cooperation with the European Union”, organised by The Friedrich Ebert Foundation and Institute for Applied Sustainability Studies (Potsdam).
During the event, the President of the Energy Association "Ukrainian Hydrogen Council" Oleksandr Riepkin spoke about:
- Ukraine's potential for green hydrogen production;
- key goals and measures for the implementation of the future Ukrainian hydrogen strategy;
- opportunities to export green hydrogen.
“The overall goal of the Ukrainian Hydrogen Strategy is to create hydrogen energy as an important element of the new model of Ukraine's energy system to meet a significant share of clean energy carrier needs of Ukraine's energy, industrial and transport sectors”, said Oleksandr Riepkin.
At the end of the event, the closing speech was made by Bernd Westphal, Member of the Bundestag, Spokesman for Economic Policy of the SPD Parliamentary Group:
“In the Coalition Agreement, we mentioned Ukraine as a very important country in terms of energy supply, and the German-Ukrainian energy partnership will be promoted. I look forward to further bilateral and multilateral discussions”.
