Repsol announced the creation of its SHYNE (Spanish Hydrogen Network) project. The initiative gathers 22 companies and 11 associations, tech centers and universities under the leadership of Repsol to promote renewable hydrogen projects. The projects under SHYNE supervision will amount up to a €3.2 billion investment.

Supported by C$15 million in funding from Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA), Canadian Pacific (CP) is expanding its hydrogen locomotive program from one fuel-cell powered engine to three in 2022. Ballard Power Systems will provide CP with a total of 14 fuel cell modules (up from 6), each with a rated power output of 200 kW, to support this program.

General Motors announced plans to expand its hydrogen fuel cell business beyond vehicles by supplying hydrogen-powered generators for uses including construction sites, music festivals, data centers and military operations. The wider application of hydrogen fuel cells will allow GM to leverage and scale existing hydrogen investments and refine the technology.

Schneider Electric SE and Engie SA's natural-gas storage subsidiary Storengy said that they have agreed to partner in developing underground green-hydrogen storage. The partnership will start with a 13 million-euro ($14.7 million) large-scale green-hydrogen storage project in salt caverns, known as HyPSTER, at Etrez in eastern France.

Masdar, ENGIE and Fertiglobe will study the development, design, financing, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of an industrial-scale and globally cost-competitive green hydrogen facility in Al Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, to be installed near Fertiglobe’s ammonia production plants, with a potential capacity up to 200 MW.

Electric Aviation Group has launched a new subsidiary that will be responsible for developing a megawatt-scale fuel cell stack system that will be implemented into a 90-seater hydrogen hybrid aircraft.
The aircraft being developed is called H2ERA and it is currently on track to launch in 2030.

India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to further strengthen its collaboration in the fields of renewable energy and hydrogen.
Under the partnership, IRENA will facilitate knowledge-sharing from India on scaling up renewable energy and clean energy technologies and the development of domestic green hydrogen.
