A concept aircraft that can fly almost 10,000km on a single tank of liquid hydrogen has been unveiled as part of a £15m ($19.9m) UK government-funded project.
Up to 279 passengers could fly between London and San Francisco direct or Auckland, New Zealand, with just one [refuelling] stop with the same speed and comfort as today’s aircraft. The concept was developed by aerospace and aviation experts from across the country as part of the government-financed FlyZero project.

Plans have been announced for a new hydrogen production plant that will be powered by an onsite windfarm in north-east Mayo.
The €200m facility, to be known as Firlough, is to be constructed by Mayo and UK based Mercury Renewables. It is hoped that the plant will produce enough green hydrogen to power the ongoing requirements of 1,000 fuel cell heavy goods vehicles. This would offset around 65,000 tonnes of CO2 every year contributing to 2% of the Ireland's emissions targets alone.

Vienna unveiled its first hydrogen bus and charging station as part of the city’s push to become the central Austrian hub for hydrogen technology.
The hydrogen bus will start operating on 10 January as a part of Vienna’s public transport system and Wiener Linen will use the opportunity to test the viability of the whole supply chain. This includes storage, charging, passenger and run-efficiency capability, as well as pricing.
According to a statement by local authorities, Vienna will get an additional 10 hydrogen buses by 2024, and a second charging station as soon as 2023.

The Norwegian Government has awarded $25 million to a project to build two zero-emission hydrogen-powered vessels for operation in the offshore industry and along Norway’s western coast.
The zero-emission shipping company Topeka says the vessels will be the first of their kind to enter commercial service in 2024. The Topeka will be built for zero-emissions through a combination of 1,000 kWh battery capacity and a three-megawatt PEM (proton exchange membrane) hydrogen fuel cell.

The transport carrier in the city of Ústí nad Labem and Solaris Bus & Coach have concluded a framework agreement for the purchase of zero-emission Urbino 12 hydrogen buses. It covers a period of 8 years and during this time the carrier may order up to 20 hydrogen buses. Once the vehicles have been ordered, they are to be delivered within 420 days of the purchase contract being signed. This is the first contract for hydrogen buses in the Czech Republic.
