The first webinar in the series "Development of the hydrogen economy in Ukraine" was held
Yesterday was held the first webinar in the series "Development of the hydrogen economy in Ukraine" devoted to the subject of the development of the hydrogen sector.
The President of the Energy Association "Ukrainian Hydrogen Council", Adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Hydrogen Economy Oleksandr Riepkin and the coordinator of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) project Project "Global Clean Technology Innovation Program for Small and Medium Enterprises in Ukraine" Ihor Kyrylchuk addressed the participants.
"Our webinars are aimed at providing the public with more professional information on trends in hydrogen technology. After all, the issue of hydrogen is developing very rapidly today and is on the agenda of the governments of most countries", said Oleksandr Riepkin.
Ihor Kyrylchuk stressed that the trend of hydrogen energy is one of the prevailing in the world today. "Of course, there is still a lot of technical, research work, integration of efforts is needed, but Ukraine has already started to work actively." Ihor Kyrylchuk also noted that the hydrogen line will be included in the work plan between the Government of Ukraine and UNIDO.
Dmytro Vasyliev, Chairman of the European Green Course Committee of the Ukrainian Business and Trade Association (UBTA), became one of the keynote speakers at the webinar. He informed the participants about commitments of Ukraine in the field of regulation of measures to reduce carbon emissions, challenges of decarbonisation and implementation of carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM).
"In the green transition, it is extremely important to write a strategy for the country's energy development that would meet commitments of Ukraine, its capabilities in the transition to a circular economy and clearly describe its position on the development of hydrogen energy."
The Acting Head of the Expert Group on Energy, Environment, Transport and Digitalization of the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Nelia Khomytska spoke about commitments of Ukraine, current work and achievements in the field of energy under the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
"For our part, we are promoting the development of hydrogen energy, the priority of this area and trying to attract EU support, both technical and financial."
