Germany and Namibia have signed a Joint Communique of Intent to establish a partnership in the field of green hydrogen technology.
The agreement will see the two countries pursue feasibility studies to implement joint hydrogen pilot project and to strengthen capacity building for trained professionals. The study will also explore potential exportation of hydrogen into Germany from the South African country.
The Federal Research Ministry will provide up to €40 million in funding from the economic stimulus package for cooperation within the framework of this partnership.

Japanese refiner Eneos and Australian upstream and utility firm Origin Energy are to jointly explore a potential green hydrogen supply chain from Australia to Japan.
The companies are considering accessing financial support by their respective governments, such as Japan's green innovation fund and Queensland's hydrogen industry development fund, to set up a Australia-Japan green hydrogen supply chain as soon as possible.

Estonia's Port of Tallinn is looking to develop a renewables infrastructure hub for the Baltic Sea, particularly focusing on the supply of hydrogen.
The port wants to build a 25,000m³ hydrogen storage facility at the nearby Paldiski South Harbour for the import and export of hydrogen in the Baltic Sea region.
The area is suitable for the development of offshore wind farms, which would provide electricity to be used for green hydrogen production. This could be used as a marine fuel, particularly for ferries and cruise ships.

Plans have been unveiled for a brand-new electrolysis plant that is set to produce approximately 500 tonnes of green hydrogen annually in Quintero Bay, Chile.
Enagás, ACCIONA Energía and GNL Quintero have joined forces on the $30m development that will offer hydrogen as an alternative energy source as Chile strives to cut emissions.
To be located at the GNL Quintero regasification terminal, the plant will have a normal power of 10MW which will be gradually increasing depending on demand for green hydrogen in the area.

Hydrogen-powered trains are now a reality in Sweden. The country announced the deployment of Alstom’s iLint passenger train in Östersund, to highlight the potential for hydrogen-powered transport.
Sweden is not the first country to deploy the iLint, however, the hydrogen-powered innovation is already running in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands – and will soon hit Italian railways.
