The world’s largest renewables project has been proposed in Western Australia.
The Western Green Energy Hub would include as much as 50 gigawatts of wind and solar over more than 15,000 square kilometers. It could cost as much as A$100 billion ($75 billion), with first production from the beginning of the next decade.
The new Australia project would produce as much as 3.5 million tons of green hydrogen or 20 million tons of green ammonia per year for export and domestic use.

Konin has become the first city in Poland to introduce a hydrogen bus to its regular fleet.
Hitting the streets in 2022, the bus fitted with a Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen fuel cell will also have five composite tanks, each with a capacity of 312 litres and a full refuelling should take a few minutes, with an estimated reach of 350km on one full tank.
In anticipation of the bus’s inaugural journey, the city is also building a new hydrogen service station which will be completed by the end of 2021 and have two refuelling points, one for private vehicles and one for buses, with the hydrogen supplied by a local power station.

Siemens begins work on 8.75MW green hydrogen plant in Germany.
The plant, which is scheduled to begin operation in the summer of 2022, aims to offset carbon dioxide production by 13,500 tons per year. With an electrical capacity of 8.75MW, the facility will be one of Germany’s largest hydrogen power plants, and will provide power to parts of Germany and Czechia.

UK’s first 100% hydrogen homes open for public demonstration at Northern Gas Networks’ (NGN) innovation site in Low Thornley, Gateshead.
It is expected that this site will be utilised as an opportunity to provide the public an experience of a zero-emission gas-fuelled home of the future.
The hydrogen house project is aligned with a larger scheme detailed in the Prime Minister’s Ten Point Plan which also includes establishing a hydrogen neighbourhood and develop plans for a potential hydrogen town before 2030.
