U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, introduced the Advancing the Clean Hydrogen Future Act of 2021. This legislation would establish a research, development, demonstration, and deployment (RDD&D) program to reduce the cost and improve the efficiency of producing hydrogen using electrolyzers. 
Senator Heinrich’s legislation provides a five-year expanded authorization that integrates and strengthens U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) electrolyzer RDD&D, with an explicit focus on making scalable electrolyzers more durable, efficient, and affordable.

A ‘New West City Climate Quarter’ concept has been revealed in the city of Esslingen, Germany, that will feature several innovative low-carbon energy solutions such as the production of green hydrogen in an urban environment.
The concept features several electric hybrid buses from SVE Esslingen, a municipal transport company, and the use of fully solarised roof areas that will provide renewable energy for the area.
Uniquely, the solar panel areas will feed into two electrolyser units that will produce green hydrogen in an urban environment – a distinguishing feature that is said to be unique in Germany.

Aberdeen City Council has launched a search for a new joint venture partner to build a new hydrogen hub in the city which will be Scotland’s first commercially scalable, investable hydrogen production site.
The Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub is a hydrogen infrastructure development programme working across housing, heating and transport. The new partnership will build on the city’s existing hydrogen infrastructure and transport projects, including a fleet of hydrogen-powered buses, public sector vehicles and waste trucks.
The Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub, and its subsequent phases, have the potential to provide a significant contribution to UK Government and Scottish Government Climate Change targets. It aligns with the UK Government’s announcement of a Hydrogen Transport Programme, the Scottish Government’s Programme for Government and in particular, the Scottish Government’s Hydrogen Policy Statement, which sets Scotland to become a leading hydrogen nation, with an ambition to generate 5GW of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen by 2030.

The Estonian autonomous vehicle manufacturer Auve Tech and the University of Tartu have developed the vehcile which has now passed the Estonian Road Administration test and will be allowed to drive on public roads from July 5.  
The shuttle bus vehicle seats six passengers and is aimed at enhancing the last-mile transportation. 
It operates with the help of low-temperature hydrogen fuel cells developed in the University of Tartu.
The shuttle is self-driving but can be controlled by teleoperation from a distant control center.
