A new online hydrogen map has been launched to show the development of blue and green hydrogen production projects worldwide.
Notable findings highlighted on the map include 57 hydrogen products which are currently operational, along with 58 others that will be developed by the end of 2021, and construction of another 92 which is scheduled to begin in the next decade.

The US aims to slash the cost of green hydrogen production by 80% in the next decade in the first of a series of ‘energy earthshots’ launched by the secretary of energy Jennifer Granholm as part of an ambitious Department of Energy (DOE) scheme.
The hydrogen ‘shot’ would target driving the cost of hydrogen down to $1/kg while at the same establishing a “framework and foundation for deployment” in the American Jobs Plan, including funding for demonstration projects.

Egypt has taken steps to enter the hydrogen industry and produce it as a clean source of fuel, announced Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek al-Molla.
Work is currently underway to develop a strategy for the hydrogen industry in Egypt.
Egypt has great potential and competitive advantages that qualify it to enter the hydrogen industry, Molla said. This includes the availability of natural gas resources in Egypt to support the production of blue hydrogen, which is important in the short and medium term so that green hydrogen can be produced effectively and economically.

Iwatani plans to invest a total of ¥60bn ($548mn) over the next three fiscal years as part of efforts to promote hydrogen use. The company has set a target to increase the number of domestic hydrogen supply stations to 83 by 2023-24 from 53 in 2020-21. It is also looking to expand its hydrogen station network in the US to 23 from four over the same period.
