Western Australia has set an ambitious target of 100 gigawatts of renewable energy for green hydrogen within a decade, with that figure to double by 2040.
Australia is looking to capitalise on manufacturing demand, claiming the government wants the state to be “technology makers, not takers”.
It wants Western Australia to produce the componentry required for green hydrogen, including the electrolysers, and it recently committed an additional A$10 million (US$7.8 million) towards wind turbine manufacturing.

Enegix plans to build the world’s largest green hydrogen plant in Brazil, a $5.4bn project.
The Base One facility will produce more than 600 million kilograms of green hydrogen annually from 3.4GW of baseload renewable energy, and receive $5.4bn in investment to get the project off the ground and producing within four years.

A new international consortium (OQ, InterContinental Energy, EnerTech) has revealed an integrated green fuels mega project that will produce hydrogen in Oman.
The mega project will consist of 25GW of renewable solar and wind energy, at full capacity, and will produce millions of tonnes of zero-carbon green hydrogen per annum.
