The XXII International Scientific and Practical Online Conference "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the XXI Century"

The XXII International Scientific and Practical Online Conference "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the XXI Century" is taking place on May 20-21.

The purpose of the conference is to discuss problems and prospects for the use of renewable energy sources, electricity and bioenergy resources, ground heat and heat supply of the country through solar, wind, hydropower resources, as well as the implementation of energy saving and energy efficiency measures.

In addition to hydrogen energy, the topics discussed include energy efficiency, integrated renewable energy systems, wind energy, solar energy, biomass energy, hydropower, geothermal energy, educational activities, environmental energy (heat pumps) and smart grids.

"The topic of renewable energy sources, decarbonisation and, given our possibilities of renewables and the potential for production of "green" hydrogen, changing the model of Ukrainian economy to export has become not only an economic but also a political issue and one of the priorities of Ukrainian government. And science is a solid basis for this," said President of the Energy Association «Ukrainian Hydrogen Council» Oleksandr Riepkin during his welcoming speech.

During the conference, Oleksandr Riepkin told the participants regarding the Hydrogen Act prepared and published by the European Association “Hydrogen Europe”, which outlines the general vision of the model of harmonization and integration of processes and legislation related to hydrogen.

"When we talk about systematic development, the main thing is to draft a road map and set a timeframe so that we understand what is going to happen in the coming years, what the medium-term perspective is and what we need to achieve."

At the end of his speech, Mr. Riepkin outlined the importance of adopting a national hydrogen strategy in Ukraine as soon as possible, which is currently being worked on.
