Denys Shmyhal: “Ukraine is eager to become a full partner of the EU in the hydrogen strategy implementation”
The Ukrainian government delegation, within the framework of its visit to Germany, reached the agreement concerning new directions of the bilateral cooperation, in particular, concerning investment projects in Ukraine, production of hydrogen and its export, transformation of coal regions, joint projects in logistics.
“We discussed with Mr. Heiko Maas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, the cooperation in the area of hydrogen production. It is noted in the EU hydrogen strategy that Ukraine has the potential of installation of the 10 GW facility for production of “green” hydrogen. This lets engage 20 bln. Euro for the industry development. And we are sure that jointly with Germany we will be able to realize this potential to the best extent possible. Such project is extremely important within the Ukraine’s Green Course and for ensuring our energy independence”, - noted Denys Shmyhal, the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Olha Stefanishyna, the Deputy Prime Minister for the European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, commented that Germany is a main trade partner of Ukraine in the EU and noted that the hydrogen issue is a priority issue:
“At the forum we discussed new projects, new opportunities for extending economic cooperation. Hydrogen issue is also a priority as Ukraine is commited to according its policies with the goals of the European Green Course (Green Deal)”.
